Jason Kuruvilla is a seasoned public relations professional with experience in government and nonprofit advocacy. He is a Senior Communications Associate for Consumers Union, the policy and advocacy division of Consumer Reports, where he leads their outreach efforts for the clean energy and automotive fuel efficiency advocacy programs.
Previously, he served as Press Secretary for the Economics and Statistics Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he managed media relations for the Assistant Secretary and the Department's Chief Data Officer. In that role, he helped promote the Department's efforts to harness the vast economic, environmental and other scientific data collected across the Department to support innovation in the public and private sector. Prior to that, Jason served as a Special Assistant and Press Officer at the U.S. Department of Labor where he helped promote the Department’s job training and unemployment insurance programs and the release of the economically significant monthly jobs report.
Jason graduated from Binghamton University in New York in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He lives in Maryland with his wife, Carrianna, and 2-year old son, and is looking forward to the arrival of his baby girl in July.
