Communications Intern, Civic Advisors
Location: Washington, DC
Civic Advisors is a social impact strategy and consulting firm made up of a team and network of Obama-Biden White House and campaign alumni. Civic Advisors works with clients trying to make an impact, including mission driven companies, non-profits, education institutions, philanthropic organizations, and sports and entertainment leaders across the United States.
Civic Advisors’ Fellows provide essential support to staff members and are integral members of the team.
The Communications Intern will support staff members by performing a variety of administrative duties. Projects range from assisting staff with research, proposal writing, or campaign creation as they complete work for clients, to supporting the digital and communication efforts of Civic Advisors or its clients.
The Communications intern will work hand-in-hand with the Civic Advisors team to provide support as the business strengthens and grows. This requires strong writing skills for drafting and editing for reports and digital content, a positive personality to support relationship management efforts, strong attention to detail for managing spreadsheets, data, and projects, and the ability to multitask. The Communications Intern is also responsible for monitoring news and policy updates and using this information to improve Civic Advisors and its clients’ strategies.
This is a three-month internship experience. The position is full-time, compensated, and based in Washington, DC.
Assist in general ideas and development for campaign materials such press releases, toolkits, and emails.
Support key campaign moments and rollouts.
Monitor relevant news and media on various topics.
Assist with logistics and volunteer outreach for events and conferences.
Other duties as assigned.
Interest and/or experience in digital and traditional communications is highly preferred.
Interest in civic engagement, journalism, and popular culture is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to take initiative as a self-starter.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
This is a three-month. The position is full-time and based in Washington, DC.
